Concept: "Post-Ads" 05.09.08

Post-Ads

The other day, as I was driving home, I noticed a billboard with the advertisement hanging off half-way. So I started to think, "What happens to those things after the companies don't need them up anymore?". Apparently these things are not only trashed, but the PVC that their printed on is toxic for the environment!

After really thinking more about it, I came up with the idea for "Post-Ads" (terrible name, yes I know...), old billboard prints that are thoughtfully cropped, framed, and resold as wall art. Given the large scale and weather-resistant properties of the material, Post-Ads would provide a great solution for people looking for abstract art that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Concept: PowerHour.Com. 03.07.08

POWERHOUR

Sprouting from an idea of a friend, the "one beer shot every minute for 60 minutes" game known as a "Power Hour" is often met with a tragic (and early) end due in part to the poor time-keeping skills brought on by 48 shots of beer. To combat this frequent problem, powerhour.com would provide accurate time keeping combined with music sampled with the changing minutes.

Aside from this service, the structure of powerhour.com would present a fantastic channel of advertisement placement that would change with every minute as well as an opportunity for lesser known music artists to be heard and popularized. Check out the full concept in PDF form. Work is currently being done in Flash while potential advertisors are being sought out.

Horizon Fitness 2007-2008. Line 02.09.08

The Horizon Fitness T84 Treadmill

The 2007-2008 Horizon Brand fitness equipment line was a project I worked on for Horizon Fitness in an effort to update their previous years lineup. Including 5 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, and 2 recumbent bikes, the full line was designed, prototyped and developed in less than eight months.

Fortunately, this simple aesthetic re-design became much more and allowed Horizon Fitness to receive Best Buy awards for two products in the line and an improvement in sales from the previous years product line-up.

Toast Magazine: First Look. 02.09.08

Toast Magazine Cover Concept

Having lived in downtown Milwaukee through my college years & being a strong fan of its rapidly growing arts and entertainment scene, I found myself searching for something similar when I moved out to Madison. Homesick maybe? Whatever it was, one of the small things I loved in Mil-town that I havent found here was a small magazine called info*. In case youre not familiar with it, info* is a free magazine that you can pick up throughout Milwaukee that acts as a seasonal snapshot of what the city was up to, where its going, and where its been. Photographs of locals (many familiar) at some of the more trendier clubs and bars, along with articles on fashion, music, & art that promoted local artists helped flesh out the pocket-sized book and created something you got for free that you actually wanted to keep. I have now decided that I want to do this in Madison.

Kerr Demetron Demi. 02.11.08

Kerr Dental's Demetron Demi

When approached by Kerr Dental, regarding their new UV curing light, the message was pretty straight-forward. Fix the ergonomics that the previous design lacked, improve the aesthetics, and make it easier to interact with. All this while reducing the size, improving the power, and figuring out a way to keep it cool in the process.

Fortunately, through research and endless amounts of prototypes, the final design has been a hit in the field. Check out the full project PDF here.

Minnkota Riptide Footpedal Line. 02.11.08

After extensive research of their previous product, we knew we could do better. Important issues such as balance, pedal pressure, and obvious user comfort had to be addressed.

Minnkota Riptide SP Footpedal

The new product has been designed with several interaction methods taken into consideration.
